Connect Groovy to ChatGPT
Add Groovy as a custom connector through ChatGPT's Developer mode, then publish files and artifacts to a shareable link without leaving the conversation.
Step by step
- 1
Create your Groovy connector link
Every client connects through one hosted URL — no install, no JSON. In Groovy, open Settings → Connectors and click Create connector, then copy the link it shows once. Keep it secret; it authenticates as your account.

Turn on Developer mode
In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and enable Developer mode. This unlocks custom MCP connectors.
Custom connectors require a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan. If the toggle isn't there, your plan doesn't support it yet.
- 3
Create the Groovy connector
In Connectors, click Create. Name it “Groovy”, paste your connector link as the MCP server URL, set Authentication to None, and click Create. ChatGPT validates the endpoint and lists Groovy's tools.
- 4
Use it in a conversation
Select Developer mode in the composer, add Groovy as a source, and ask ChatGPT to share something — it'll propose the tool call for you to confirm.
Read tools work on every eligible plan. Write-capable tools (creating links, uploading files) require a Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspace.
